It is very easy to install WordPress if you have at least basic web hosting skills.
There are a few things you need to do before starting the installation process.
First of all, please visit https://wordpress.org/support/article/before-you-install/ and check the server requirements(PHP and MySQL versions).
Most web hosting companies are offering the newest PHP and MySQL versions so we should be good to start.
Let’s say your server is up and running and you have bought domain name unless you want to install WordPress to a local computer.
You will need a text editor to edit the main configuration file and FTP client – you can use a free app FileZilla.
If your server match requirements go to https://wordpress.org/download/ and download the newest version of WordPress. This direct link should also work to download zipped WordPress files https://wordpress.org/latest.zip
Download and unzip the WordPress package.
Create a database and user. Usually, this may be done by phpMyAdmin.
Open wp-config-sample.php file with a text editor where you need to edit following lines:
define( ‘DB_NAME’, ‘database_name_you_have_just_created‘ );
define( ‘DB_USER’, ‘ database_username_you_have_just_created ‘ );
define( ‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘database_password‘ );
define( ‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost‘ );
Rename wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.
Upload all files to a web server and visit your web.
You will be redirected to an installation page. Enter all required data in the fields and follow the instruction on the screen.
